I’ve had countless people ask me what wakeboard bindings are best. Wakeboard bindings are one of the most important pieces of equipment to consider when selecting your first wakeboard set up. Wakeboarding is intense, and like many other impact sports, there is a chance you could be hurt. One of the easiest ways to counteract and help reduce the risk of injury is selecting a good Wakeboard Binding.

The wakeboard bindings are the immediate connection between you and the wakeboard. This means they should have a very tight, but comfortable fit around your ankle and foot. Entering your foot into the wakeboard binding should require a little work, as you want the binding to be tight. Once your foot is inside the wakeboard binding, tighten it around your foot and ensure there is very little heel lift. In recent years technology has come a long way in wakeboarding and there are numerous different styles and brands that should accommodate your personal tastes. Wakeboard bindings have many different types of accessories to secure your foot, including: laces, straps, cables, and hinges all to help secure you to the wakeboard. As with most any piece of wakeboarding equipment, do what you can to personally try out your wakeboard bindings before you actually pay for them. Recommendations from someone else are good but always keep in mind that someone else has a different personal preference which may differ from your own when it comes to finding the best wakeboard binding for you.

One positive thing when shopping for bindings rather than wakeboards is that you can actually try the binding on in the shop to get an idea about what it might feel like when attached to your wakeboard and riding on the water. This way you can test the binding in the store, and if it feels good on your foot you can proceed to do a demo through the wakeboard shop and fully test the binding on the water. You may need to get some plastic washers to properly fit your wakeboard bindings to your wakeboard if the two are of different brands. Just remember primarily to choose a wakeboard binding that is both secure and comfortable, and let other secondary matters like how well it matches your wakeboard come into play only after the binding you
